Bio
I'm currently a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of Aberdeen and am based at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. My research focuses on improving tree selection for forest restoration projects in Borneo using knowledge about the ecology and evolution of the native flora.
Previously, I did my PhD at the University of Edinburgh, where I looked at the transition between forests and savannas in Africa.
I have a hybrid background in botanical horticulture and biology. My main interests focus on how to integrate botany, gardens, conservation and ecosystem services.

My journey began in 2010 when I went to live in Costa Rica and volunteered for the Botanic Garden Lankester. With such an abundance of luxuriant vegetation, delicious food and a sense of hospitality second to none, it was difficult not to fall in love with this country. This shaped my strong connection with plants and the Neotropics.
